TV impact...

If the TV’s were to be turned off I think children would grow up to be healthier, better educated, and more independent human beings. With TV’s off the increase in the obesity rate will most definitely decrease, taking most kids off the couch inside and into the outside world more, getting more involved. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada almost one in four Canadian children, between seven and 12, are obese. Now days TV shows and movies are portraying physical, mental and sexual violence, which has lead to children to exhibit aggressive behavior, With less TV comes less the aggressive behavior probably. According to, http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/26985.php Television viewing in early childhood varies depending on age; for very young children the effects are negative, while for preschool children they can be constructive A 2001 study from the Kaiser Family Foundation, entitled Sex on TV, three out of four prime time shows contain sexual references, with comedies topping the charts with 84% sexual content. According to, http://www.mediaawareness.ca/english/parents/television/tv_impact_kids.cfm  parents should be careful to the news, studies have shown that kids are more afraid of violence in news coverage than in any other media content. There’s also a “mean and scary world syndrome”, also known as increased fear, Children, particularly girls, are much more likely than adults to be portrayed as victims of violence on TV, and this can make them more afraid of the world around them. Too much TV effects health child development. Television can affect learning and school performance if it cuts into the time kids need for activities crucial to healthy mental and physical development.
